Operation Snow 2 - 13 January 2010
East and West Sussex had sustained heavy snowfalls over Tuesday 12 January night and Wednesday morning. The Eastbourne & Wealden Group had received a further Emergency Call Out from the Eastbourne District General Hospital EDGH EPO at 11:00 hours on Wednesday 13 January requesting 4WD support to transport staff in to work for the night shifts and transport the day staff back home.

Operation Snow II was put in to operation.

A ring round identified that we had 4 members with 4WD available by mid afternoon, 4 operators able to install radios in other vehicles, a main control station, a secondary control to shadow and a sub-control at the
Eastbourne District General Hospital EDGH.

Tony G3ZQB and I arrived at the EDGH at 14:28hours and established communications with the Main Control Bob G0BUX. The EDGH provided a SITREP that indicated that, although the main roads were clearing quite quickly, the outlying areas in the Sussex Weald were still impassable to two wheel drive vehicles.

Eastbourne & Wealden Group worked alongside the Marine Coastguard Agency.
